Question One
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Looking at my media product it essentially follows the typical codes and conventions of a real magazine. Although there are some parts of my magazine which i have tried to challenge the forms of existing ones. For example looking at my front cover and comparing it back to the front covers of NME that i analysed you can see that things are pretty much the same. I have used the consistant use of similar fonts and layouts that are already being used in existing magazines.

Question Two
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
In many different ways my media product will represent particular social groups.
For example the magazine that i have created is of an Indie genre and will therefore be attracting people that are interested in that particular music. When creating my magazine to find out how my magazine would represent particular social groups i had to focus on peoples attitudes, values and beliefs and the way in which they live their lives. To represent particular social groups throughout my magazine i chose to include things into the magazine that would keep them engaged and that they can already relate too.
For example the particular social group that my magazine is aimed at meant that they would be interested in gigs and festivals. So in my magazine i chose to include things about bands going on tour and gigs and festivals. Its all because of what this particular social group is in to. They dont enjoy just sitting back and reading about all their favourite bands they like to get involved. Its all because of the way in which live music has a completely different atmosphere and affect on a person.

Question Three
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
In order for me to gain a clear understanding about what kind of media institution might distribute my media product earlier on in the coursework i carried out some research into media institutions and how they distribute their products.

Who would be the audience for your media product?
In order for me to create a successful media product i had to consider my target audience extremely carefully. This was an important part of the creation as

Question Five
How did you attract/address your audience?
Throughout my magazine i used many different ways to attract/ address my audience. If my magazine didnt attract or address my target audience in any way at all then my magazine would have no purpose. In order to attract my audience in the best possible way i had to associate my magazine to their values and the content must include the things that are best suited to them. When creating the magazine it wasn't just about attracting but i also had to address my audience in the best possible way. By attracting it means 'hailing' your audience to do this had to consider the layout , colours and format used on my magazine.

Question Six
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
From the process of constructing this product i have learnt alot about technologies. To start with when creating my preliminary task i used Serif Page Plus. I found that this programme was quite easy to use after playing around with alot of the settings and working out where all the different functions were. This programme is the sort of one that can be simple to use if you stick to the basics but if you feel like being adventurous it does give you that opportunity. This is apparent when it comes to doing things such as the layering and experimenting with different editing techniques. But when creating my preliminary i had no idea how to se such a programme and therefore just stuck to the simple and basic ideas.
Then when it came to producing my actual magazine front cover , contents and double page spread i decided to experiment and try using a different programme on the computer. For my final outcomes i chose to use photoshop. I found photoshop hard to use at first but after persevering and experimenting with different features that are on the programme i managed to put together a final front cover , contents and double page spread. Throughout this whole process i print screened some of my steps and progress as i went along. By doing this i can look back and notice the improvement and progress of my outcomes. And ofcourse taking into consideration my lack of knowledge on computers and design programmes like photoshop i can see a large improvement throughout my work and from the preliminary task to final outcomes.
Throughout the project a few obstacles were hit due to the use of technology but i soon over came these and carried on with my work. I think that having problems with the technology can often be a good thing as this is a good learning curve and it helped me to realise that you must save your work at every step and keep a record or print screen of every change and piece of progress that you make to either the blog or the magazine itself.
Overall i believe that i have learnt alot about technologies and if it wasnt for this project then i would have never created a blog and therefore it has given me inspiration and motivation to want to carry out similar things in my own time. Or even just to take notice and look at a blog. Now i also know how to use a programme like photoshop and this means that i have a wider range of skills and can also develop other work to a better standard.
